The 2011 Chinese Grand Prix has been confirmed after the FIA approved recent track improvements.

The slot on the calendar had been marked with a "subject to the homologation of the circuit" note against the race weekend as the circuit needed a new licence to be granted after carrying out work to turns one, eight and fourteen following subsidence. This included drainage and surface improvements, which the Shanghai Daily reports were inspected by FIA race director Charlie Whiting on Monday.

The Shanghai International Circuit organisers had recently extended a deal to host the race for the next seven years, and the final approval has led to the track gaining a licence that will run for the following three years. This season's race is third on the calendar following the cancellation of the Bahrain Grand Prix, and will take place on April 17.
