Singapore GP - Return to normality
Singapore, 23 September – Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa finished second and fourth in the second free practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix that took place this evening at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Under more than 1,600 streetlights that made it seem like daylight at the unique street circuit, the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel (1.46.374) came out on top ahead of Alonso’s 150° Italia (1.46.575), Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren (1.47.115) and the other Ferrari of Felipe Massa (1.47.120).
In this session the team tried to make up for some of the time lost in the first free practice session – which was interrupted and especially heavy with traffic. They tested both available Pirelli tyre compounds – Soft and Supersoft – and carried out a long run on full tanks at the end. There few set-up changes and no excessive hopes for the Ferrari engineers, who were satisfied with the result but saw the traffic that the opponents met on their first laps with the Supersoft tyre. Now the team will evaluate the data collected ahead of the third and final sessino of free practice, scheduled for 1900 local time tomorrow.
