IT'S NOT GOING TO BE EASY
Marina Bay Circuit, Singapore: Friday, September 23, 2011
Paul lost out on track time at the Marina Bay Circuit, ahead of this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix, due to a number of factors. Despite that, he still managed to post the ninth-fastest time behind the wheel of his Force India VJM04 in Free Practice 1, and improved with a best of 1min 50.345secs in FP2.
“It wasn’t the best of days because what I really needed was time on track to help me learn the circuit," Paul explained.
"The first session was cut short and in the second I had a hydraulic brake issue, which took most of the session to fix. So it means I go into Saturday with limited running on the soft tyres and just one timed lap on the supersofts.
"It’s not ideal because you need to build your confidence on a street circuit and find the limits, because there is little margin for error.
"On the positive side Adrian, who was seventh-quickest in FP2, has shown that the car seems to be on the pace and I felt quite happy during the limited running I did do on the soft tyres.”
