Maranello, 19 November – To coincide with the Abarth Race Days 2010 event at Varano this weekend, the FDA announces that it has reached an agreement with the organisers of the new European series of the Formula ACI-CSAI Abarth championship for 2011.

The Ferrari Driver Academy will be a patron of the new series, contributing to its promotion and development. This follows on from the great success of the first Italian championship in which two young students of the Ferrari Driver Academy distinguished themselves, with Brandon Maisano winning the title and Raffaele Marciello getting the award for best Italian driver in 2010.

The collaboration will feature complete driving courses organised by the FDA going to the outright winner, the first of the rookies and the best driver, the latter chosen according to a ranking system used by the Ferrari Driver Academy. The cars will also feature a four centimetre stripe across them, while the championship website will feature a “Supported by FDA” logo, to underline the link between the Abarth Championship and the Maranello academy, highlighting the efforts of the FDA in promoting young motor sport talent around the world.
