Karun Chandhok says he's hopeful of a drive next season, despite the majority of the teams on the grid having decided their line-up's.

The Indian driver competed in ten of the 19 races of the 2010 season with the Hispania outfit before being dropped for Sakon Yamamoto, who was later replaced by Christian Klien.

However, seats at both Force India and Lotus seem to have opened up and the Chennai born driver believes negotiations are heading in the right direction.

"My goal for next year as I've said before is still firmly to be in Formula One and negotiations for a drive in the 2011 Championship are progressing in the right way," he said.

"So hopefully we'll have a final programme in place before the F1 world shuts for Christmas."

If all else fails, Chandhok could return to GP2 of which he has been testing earlier this week.
