Khlong Wang Chao National Park
Kamphaeng Phet
Part of the Western Forest Complex, Khlong Wang Chao National Park is made up of mountainous terrain which supports several types of vegetation. At this dry time of year, however, it's the stands of deciduous trees which brighten up the park, adding yellow and red hues to a landscape that is normally a patchwork of different shades of green.
The site depicted in this painting is about 34 kilometres from the headquarters complex. This is where the park road ends. From here you have to climb down a steep mountain slope to reach Nam Tok Tao Dam, one of several waterfalls in the national park.
- How to get there
There's no bus service to the park so you'll need to bring your own vehicle. A convenient route starts from Wang Chao intersection on Highway 1. From there, follow Highway 1110 westwards and then ask directions to Ban Nong Dan and park headquarters. The distance from the intersection to the park is about 28 kilometres.
- Food and accommodation
The park has rather basic accommodation for rent plus a campground. There's also a simple canteen, but to play safe you'd be well advised to bring along your own supply of food.
