BBC drop Legard from commentary team for 2011

The BBC are expected to confirm that David Coulthard will join Martin Brundle in the commentary box for the 2011 season, after Jonathan Legard confirmed he has been dropped the corporation.

The lead commentator during the 2009 and 2010 seasons has often been criticised by fans on forum boards and it would seem, the BBC have taken the comments onboard.

He confirmed the news that he would be leaving on Twitter.

"Life moves on," wrote Legard. "Ask Nick Heidfeld or @narainracing [Narain Karthikeyan]," he said in reference to the Indians return to the grid with Hispania.

"You never know what's next. To the critical and the complimentary, thanks for the company."

Coulthard is favourite to take on the role of co-commentator, with Brundle steeping up as lead commentator.
