Chinese organisers certain track will be ready

The organisers of the Chinese Grand Prix held in Shanghai have made assurances that the track will be ready in time for the FIA's inspection set for March.

The track debuted on the F1 calendar in 2004 and has been a regular feature since then. However, its inclusion on the 2011 calendar is subject to homologation after the FIA deemed the drainage and track surface unfit for the top level of motorsport.

Officials are certain the issues will be resolved before the March deadline approaches.

"The Shanghai International Circuit has confirmed that all work as requested by the FIA will be carried out and should be completed by the end of February," a spokeswoman told Reuters on Tuesday.

"Before a new licence can be issued, the FIA will carry out a final inspection in March."

The Chinese GP is the fourth round of a 20-race calendar. The only other track which faces a similar homologation procedure is the inaugural Indian GP which takes place on October 30th.
