Jarno Trulli has signalled that he is looking to move away from Formula One if he has another season towards the back of the grid.
Trulli drove for start-up team Lotus in 2010 and failed to score any points in a car a long way off the pace compared to his Toyota from the previous year. He is staying with the team next year and expecting better results, but warned he is not willing to spend the rest of his career at the back of the grid.
"One year I can suffer, another one no," Gazzetta Sportiva quoted him as saying.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sportthat he is interested in racing in other series.
"NASCAR could be an interesting experience," said Trulli, who tested a Sprint Cup car at the end of the 2009 season. "It is a completely different concept that could give me new motivation -- just like DTM or long-distance racing."
The former Renault and Toyota driver admitted he thinks F1 has taken "an ugly turn" in the last couple of years.
"Contracts are worth less and less. The only thing that interests is the big money brought by various 'little' drivers. Only four teams can guarantee excellent drivers. As for the rest, the level is extremely poor."
