HRT will use 'completely new car' for 2011

Hispania team principal Colin Kolles has confirmed that the outfit will use an all-new chassis for the 2011 season, not just a modified version of the Dallara-built F110.

This contradicts Narain Karthikeyan's tweet which declared the Spanish team would run an upgraded 2010 chassis for the year.

"For 2011, HRT has established strong technical partnerships. It will have an upgraded version of its 2010 chassis, mated to a Cosworth engine and a gearbox from Williams F1."

Kolles though has confirmed that they are working with a group of engineers under the direction of technical director Geoff Willis, to construct and design a completely new chassis for their second season.

"The 2011 car will be a completely new car, and will be called [the] F111," he said. "The F111 is being made by Hispania Racing with several groups of engineers. At the moment, there are approximately 40 designers finalising the first spec, under the leadership of Geoff Willis as Technical Director and Paul White as Chief Designer."

The Romanian also confirmed that the 2010 car would be used for the first three tests, before switching to the F111 for the Bahrain test, prior to the start of the season.

"The 2010 car will be utilized at the first tests, and as soon as the 2011 car is ready, we will implement it. The plan is to use the 2011 car at the Bahrain test."
