Geneva 2011: Rinspeed BamBoo Concept

Rinspeed comes to Geneva Motor Show 2011 with an electric prototype called BamBoo. It can reach a top speed of 120 km/h and integrates an electric scooter in the body for “extended-autonomy“.


The Swiss from Rinspeed presented new images of the concept that it will unveil at the Geneva. It has an bamboo indoor with a very simple design and a retro air. The prototype has no side windows and the ceiling is made of special material and is inflatable. Propulsion is electric, and if the vehicle does not have enough energy to complete the trip, the driver can use the integrated electric scooter integrated into the simplistic body.











Rinspeed BamBoo has a folding roof, offering to the passengers the opportunity to enjoy the summer sun in a simple and practical way. The Rinspeed BamBoo Concept was designed by American artist James Rizzi and is intended for spending the summers French resort of St. Tropez. The colors of the concept model were chosen by the repair specialists of StickerFix AkzoNoble.

Rinspeed BamBoo Concept has a 54 kW engine and is produced in Germany. Rinspeed BamBoo weights 1090 kg and the maximum speed you can achieve this prototype is 120 km/h. The chassis is made of steel and is equipped with horizontal dampers operated by rods, a system inspired by motorsport. The body is made of composite materials and uses plastic polymers that are supplied by Henkel.
