No children while I am racing insists Button

Jenson Button has said he thinks there is no point continuing in Formula One after having children, arguing that "if you start feeling fearful of pushing the car to the limit, you have got to stop … [as it is] not worth the risk".

Button was answering questions whether he and girlfriend Jessica Michibata are planning a family. He said it was not going to be a consideration until he had finished racing.

"When I have kids it will change, but not yet," he told the Sunday Express "That's one reason why I don't want to have kids while I am racing. It's not worth the risk. Also, you don't get enough time to spend with them. It hasn't crept in yet. I'll stop when it does. If you start feeling fearful of pushing the car to the limit, you have got to stop. There is no point."

Five of the 23 drivers racing this season have children.

Alberto Ascari, who won the world title in 1952 and 1953, famously said: "I never want my children to become too fond of me because one day I might not come back and they will suffer less if I don't come back." Within days he was dead.
