BIFF&BIL 2011 Press Conference Highlights ASEAN fashion Strength

The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, recently held a press conference to announce Thailand's annual fashion extravaganza, Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair 2011 (BIFF&BIL 2011).

The event, which was held at CentralWorld, was presided over by Ms. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, DEP's Director-General and joined by dignitaries from some of the embassies of ASEAN member countries along with representatives from public and private sectors.

The highlight was a mini-fashion show led by Thailand's top models featuring latest fashion collections of apparel, shoes and bags from The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACICT, Bangkok Trend 2012 Workshop, Bangkok Fashion Society (BFS) and Thai Leather Goods Association.

The event also featured well-respected individuals in fashion industry namely, Dr. Vuthichai Duangratana, DEP's Deputy Director-General, Mr. Pilan Dhammongkol, Chairman of the NFTTI, Mr. Pongsak Assakul, President of the Thai Textile Manufacturing Association of Thailand, Mr. Sukij Kongpiyacharn, President of Thai Garment Manufacturers Association and Dr. Nauvarat Songswaddichai, President of the Thai Leathergoods Association.

It was reinforced that BIFF&BIL 2011 would play a significant role in providing a platform to combine the innovative and creative fashion design strengths of ASEAN. Through this integrated front, this year's event will showcase ASEAN's concerted strength to "Influence the World" as stated by its tagline.

Highlights of BIFF&BIL 2011 will include the Japan Pavilion and Thai Tex Trend (T3), Lingerie and Sportswear Pavilions, and the Designers' Room, to name but a few. In addition, there will also be a Fashion & Textile Trend Forum organized and sponsored by NFTTI, and an informative display on the Source ASEAN Full Service Alliance (SAFSA), a commercial project initiated by the ASEAN textile industries under the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX), which integrates the customer with the supplier.

BIFF&BIL 2011 will be organized at IMPACT's Challenger Halls 2 and 3. Local and overseas fashion professionals can enjoy sourcing and networking during trade days of April 20 – 22, while the general public can enjoy viewing and buying products with bargained price during April 23 - 24.

BIFF & BIL Roadshow at Baiyoke Tower

The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce, continues to organize a series of roadshows in major Commercial Districts to attract potential exhibitors to join Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair (BIFF & BIL 2011) to be held from 20-24 April, 2011 at the Challenger 2-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

The latest roadshow was held last week (March 9, 2011) at Baiyoke Tower 1 and 2 which is the commercial area gathering hundreds of wholesalers in fashion and garment industry.

In promoting BIFF & BIL 2011, DEP has joined hands with private organizations to carry out a series of roadshows in major Commercial Districts of Bangkok.

The roadshows held at Sampeng and Jatujak were warmly welcomed by sellers and traders in the areas. The activity is an effort to invite the target groups — wholesalers, retailers, producers and manufacturers in fashion, textile and leather industries — to join the coming BIFF & BIL 2011. Also, these areas are the country's important commercial zones that houses thousands of potential producers and sellers in the target industries. They are also popular destinations where traders and buyers from around the globe come to source and buy a large amount of products every day.

The roadshow to Baiyoke Tower 1 and 2 received much attention from retailers and wholesalers in the area. Baiyoke Towers has been famous among local and overseas buyers as one of Bangkok's major commercial areas. Both Towers locate over 500 shops, most of which are wholesalers with a capability to produce products in high volumes or have their own factories.
