Garuda to double flight frequencies

Published: 21/04/2011 at 12:00 AM

Garuda Indonesia will increase frequencies on its Bangkok-Jakarta route to twice daily from June 17 to respond to stronger travel demand.

Garuda has seen a continued surge in demand on the Bangkok-Jakarta route since it introduced daily service more than a year ago as a result of more convenient flight times.

The adjusted times allow passengers to make easy connections to other regional cities from Jakarta, said Bambang Sunan, Garuda's general manager for Thailand, Burma, Laos and Cambodia.

The additional flights represent more competition for Thai Airways International, which operates 10 flights a week.

Garuda's seat capacity on the route will rise to 4,536 a week, compared with more than 6,000 for THAI which uses larger Airbus 300 jets. Garuda will operate Boeing 737-800NG aircraft with 150 economy and 12 business-class seats.

To promote the new services, Garuda is offering fares ranging from 8,000 to 9,500 baht, excluding taxes and fuel surcharges, valid for travel from June 17 to Sept 30. Terms and conditions apply.
