Ferrari Owners at 2011 Formula 1 Chinese GP. An exclusive on-track program raised RMB3.5 million for Shanghai Charity Fund
April 17, Shanghai - At the 2011 F1 Chinese Grand Prix Final, a group of Ferrari owners in China teamed up for a grand charity parade at the Shanghai International Circuit. This is the first-ever circuit parade by a single brand right before the final race since the inception of the F1 in 1950. Jointly arranged by Ferrari China, the Ferrari Owners Club in Shanghai, and thanks to the F1 Management Committee led by Mr. Bernie Ecclestone and the Chinese Grand Prix organizers, this parade aims to celebrate the racing culture and raise funds to the Shanghai Charity Fund for children who need medical help. A total of RMB 3.5 millions (about USD 540,000) was raised through this initiative. Earlier this week, Ferrari held the annual F1 gala dinner to celebrate the race season, and a cheque donation ceremony, where Mr. Edwin Fenech, Ferrari Greater China President and CEO; Mr. Rick Yan, Ferrari Owners’ Club of China President; and Mr. Giuseppe Zhu, Scuderia Ferrari Club Shanghai President, jointly presented the donations to the Shanghai Charity Fund.
The parade was greeted by Scuderia Ferrari driver Marc Gené in the pole position in a stunning Ferrari California. Right behind it were 22 Ferrari models including the unique 599 China Limited Edition, the Scuderia Spider 16M Limited Edition, and the most innovative 8-cylinder sports car, the 458 Italia. The parade ran several laps on the circuit as hundreds and thousands of enthusiastic spectators’ cheer the team on.
"Racing is the soul of Ferrari, and the track is our battlefield’, said Mr. Edwin Fenech. “For this parade, Ferrari has brought together a stunning line-up to share Ferrari’s glorious racing heritage and culture. At the same time, we hope to help contribute to the society who graciously supported Ferrari’s growth since 2004.”
Ferrari and the F1
Ferrari is the only constructor to have competed in every single edition of the World Drivers’ Championship (commonly known as Formula 1) since its creation in 1950. For many years now, it has also been the only team to build every part of its single-seaters in-house: chassis, engine, gearbox, suspension.
By the end of 2010, Ferrari had won a total of 15 Drivers’ and 16 Constructors’ titles. It also holds the record for the greatest number of wins (215), pole positions (205) and fastest laps (225). A total of 70 drivers have driven officially for Ferrari in Formula1, 36 of whom have won at least one Grand Prix.
It should be pointed out that the World Constructors’ title was only established in 1958. Had it been created in the same year as the Drivers’ title, Ferrari would have won it in 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954 and 1956 too.

Shanghai, 17 aprile - Un gruppo di Ferrari Owners in Cina è stato oggi protagonista di una grande parata di beneficienza presso Shanghai International Circuit in occasione del Gran Premio di Formula 1 della Cina. Questa è la prima volta nella storia della Formula 1 che le vetture di un unico Costruttore sfilano in circuito prima del via al Gran Premio. Organizzata da Ferrari China, insieme a Ferrari Owners Club di Shanghai,grazie al supporto di F1 Management Committee guidato da Bernie Ecclestone e dagli organizzatori del Gran Premio della Cina, la parata è stata l’occasione per celebrare la cultura delle corse e raccogliere fondi per Shanghai Charity Fundation, destinati all’assistenza medica dei bambini. Oltre 540.000 dollari sono stati raccolti attraverso questa iniziativa. Edwin Fenech, Amministratore Delegato di Ferrari Greater China, con Rick Yan, Presidente del Ferrari Owners’ Club China, e Giuseppe Zhu, Presidente Scuderia Ferrari Club Shanghai, hanno consegnato i proventi dell’evento allo Shanghai Charity Fund in occasione dell’annuale cena di gala Ferrari che celebra la stagione agonistica.
Alla parata ha partecipato anche Marc Gené, pilota della Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, in pole position al volante di una stupenda Ferrari California. Alle sue spalle 22 Ferrari tra cui l’esemplare unico 599 China Limited Edition, la Scuderia Spider 16M Limited Edition, e la più innovativa vettura sportiva 8 cilindri, la 458 Italia. Davanti a centinaia di migliaia di spettatori entusiasti, il corteo ha percorso alcuni giri di pista.
“Le corse rappresentano l’anima della Ferrari, e la pista è il nostro campo di battaglia”, ha commentato Edwin Fenech. “Per questa parata, la Ferrari ha coinvolto un formazione d’eccezione per condividere la gloriosa storia nelle corse e la cultura Ferrari. Contemporaneamente, abbiamo dato il nostro contributo a una causa importante, in onore del supporto che la popolazione cinese ha dato al Cavallino Rampante dal 2004, anno dell’ingresso ufficiale in Cina.”.
Ferrari e la F1
La Ferrari è l’unico Costruttore ad aver partecipato a ogni edizione del Campionato del Mondo di Formula 1 dalla sua nascita nel 1950. Da molti anni ormai è l’unica squadra che realizza in proprio ogni singola componente delle sue monoposto: telaio, motore, cambio e sospensione.
Al termine della stagione 2010, la Ferrari vanta 15 Titoli Piloti e 16 Titoli Costruttori. Detiene inoltre il record per il maggior numero di vittorie (215), pole position (205) e giri veloci (225). Un totale di 70 piloti hanno ufficialmente corso per Ferrari in Formula 1, di cui 36 hanno vinto almeno un Gran Premio.
Bisogna aggiungere che il Campionato del Mondo Costruttori è stato istituito nel 1958. Se fosse stato creato nello stesso anno del Campionato Piloti, la Ferrari l’avrebbe vinto anche dal 1951 al 1954 e nel 1956.
