From Sebring to Hollywood
Maranello, 13 April – This coming weekend, California’s Long Beach circuit, thirty two kilometres to the south of Los Angeles, will host the second round of the American Le Mans Series, the prestigious American championship with three Ferraris entered in the GT category. A month on from the Sebring 12 Hours which kicked off the season, the action now moves to a very different, but equally demanding track, which back in the 70s was considered the best street circuit in the world. Risi Competizione have entered the new 458 Italia GT2, driven here by Brazil’s Jaime Melo, a past winner here in 2007 with the Houston based Ferrari team and Finland’s Toni Vilander, tackling this track for the very first time. Two other 458 Italia GT2 cars are entered by Extreme Speed Motorsports and are entrusted to Scott Sharp-Johannes van Overbeek and Ed Brown-Guy Cosmo.
Friday morning is given over to free practice while qualifying takes place in the afternoon, with the two hour race itself getting underway at 16.30 on Saturday.

Maranello, 13 aprile – Il circuito californiano di Long Beach, trentadue chilometri a sud di Los Angeles, ospiterà nel prossimo fine settimana un nuovo appuntamento con la American Le Mans Series, il prestigioso campionato statunitense che in occasione del suo secondo atto vede iscritte tre Ferrari nella categoria Gran Turismo. A circa un mese dalla 12 Ore di Sebring, appuntamento inaugurale dell’edizione 2011, la serie si sposta su un tracciato estremamente diverso ma altrettanto impegnativo, negli anni ‘70 considerato il miglior circuito cittadino del mondo. A scendere in pista al volante della nuova 458 Italia GT2 schierata da Risi Competizione saranno il pilota brasiliano Jaime Melo, qui già vincitore nel 2007 con il team Ferrari di Houston, ed il finlandese Toni Vilander, al debutto assoluto sulla pista californiana. Le altre due 458 Italia GT2 iscritte alla corsa dalla scuderia Extreme Speed Motorsports saranno invece affidate alla conduzione di Scott Sharp-Johannes van Overbeek e Ed Brown-Guy Cosmo.
Nella giornata di venerdì ad una mattutina sessione di prove libere seguirà nel pomeriggio il decisivo turno di qualifiche, mentre per il via della due ore occorrerà attendere le 16.30 di sabato.
