Austrian Gerhard Plattner has set a new record for lowest fuel consumption at the wheel of Skoda Fabia GreenLine. He managed to travel 2,006 km (1,246 miles) with 45 liters of fuel.
Skoda Fabia GreenLine has set a new record for fuel consumption, at the steering wheel being Austrian Gerhard Plattner. The former rally driver left from the Austrian town of Reutte on May 10, drove all the way to Bov, Denmark, and then returned home, succeeding to travel 2006 km with 45 liters of fuel.
Skoda Fabia Greenline is equipped with a 1.2-liter TDI engine that emits only 89 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The 1.2-liter TDI engine for this eco version offers 75 hp and it is equipped with a Stop&Start system. In addition, it benefits from a recovery system for kinetic energy lost during braking.
At the end of the race, Fabia GreenLine board computer displayed an average of 2,2 liters per 100 kilometers, while the figures provided by Skoda announced an average consumption of 3,4 liters per 100 kilometers. Refueling the car and the fuel tank sealing was supervised by IPMC officials (International Police Motor Corporation). Skoda announced a combined fuel consumption of 3,39 liters per cent for Fabia Greenline, so the Austrian rider with a light foot easily managed to obtain a lower value with more than one liter per cent.
“The Skoda GreenLine models are a prime example for fuel-efficient driving. In light of the current fuel prices, not only is that important for one’s own wallet, but also for lowering environmental pollution. With a fuel consumption well below the specified norm, I want to show that besides the car manufacturers, every driver can contribute to further reduce this environmental pollution. It already starts with small details such as the proper tire pressure.” said Gerhard Plattner at the end of the journey.
