Big finale for Ferrari Racing Days at Laguna Seca

Maranello, 23 May – The second Ferrari Racing Days of the year has just finished at the circuit of Laguna Seca. The weekend’s event was the splendid setting for the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge and the Ferrari Challenge North America. It also allowed cars involved in the XX programmes and six legendary cars from the past the exceptional chance to see how they performed in private testing sessions, assisted by the Corse Clienti staff and professional drivers Gimmi Bruni and Thomas Kemenater who were present in the guise of instructors. The intense programme allowed over 120 Ferrari owners to take to the track at the wheel of their own cars in the exclusive ‘Emotions on Track’ session that was dedicated to them.

The race for the cars in the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge was won by John Goodman at the wheel of the splendid 512 BB/LM from 1979 that took the flag ahead of the 250GT/Lusso of Peter Giddings and the 250 GT of Jack Thomas/Jim Fuchs – both from 1962.

Race 2 of the Ferrari Challenge North America was hard-fought and very competitive, won by Cooper MacNeil at the wheel of the 458 Challenge run by Ferrari of Houston. He headed Enzo Potolicchio (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) and Max McKenzie (Ferrari of Houston) to the flag. From the F430 drivers, the best finish went to Francesco Piovanetti (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) followed by Christopher Ruud (Ferrari of Silicon Valley) and Frank Fusillo (Algar Ferrari).

The protagonists of the US tour of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy will return to action in Montreal for the third round of the season on the same weekend as the city hosts seventh round of the Formula 1 world championship.
