Come back soon Davide!
Maranello, 9 May – Everyone at Maranello was very upset by the serious accident which befell Davide Rigon yesterday in Istanbul, in the closing stages of the second GP2 race of the weekend. Davide, who is on the books at Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro as a Formula 1 development driver, was hit by Julian Leal’s car on the pit straight and ended up in the pit wall. The impact was heavy enough to leave Rigon with a broken tibia and fibula of the right leg. He was taken to the Anadolu Medical Centre, where he was operated on this morning to have the fractures set and the operation was completely successful.
“It’s a real shame that Davide’s racing season has started like this,” said Stefano Domenicali. “He’s a great lad who was doing a valuable job for us on the simulator and on behalf of everyone in the Scuderia, I wish him a speedy recovery: forza Davide. And let’s see you back on track soon!”
