FDA - Marciello and Maisano fly in Formula 3

Maranello, 15 May – The Italian Formula 3 Championship got underway this weekend at the Franciacorta circuit, marking the debut in the category for two Ferrari Driver Academy students, Raffaele Marciello and Brandon Maisano, who successfully graduated from the 2010 Italian Aci-Csai Abarth championship. This morning saw a strong showing from Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam in Race 1 when, on a damp and demanding track, he crossed the line in third place, running a good pace throughout the race. Brandon Maisano (BVM Target) however experienced a few difficulties and after being slowed by a fight at the first corner, came home in eleventh place.

However, in Race 2, Maisano came good and after starting second on the grid, he ran at a strong early pace, passing pole man Victor Guerin (Lucidi Motors) before defending his lead for all of the 28 minute race. Marciello took the flag in sixth spot, thus finishing where he started and, maintaining a constant pace, he was able to fend off the attacks of Race 1 winner, Daniel Mancinelli (RP Motorsport) who finished seventh.

Marciello and Maisano will be back in action on 5 June at the Misano circuit for the second round of the Italian Formula 3 championship.
