GP2 – Bianchi unscathed in start line accident
Montmelo (Barcelona,) 22 May - Jules Bianchi’s second GP2 race of the weekend finished in the gravel at the Catalunya circuit just a few seconds after the start. Having started from second on the grid, the order decided by reversing yesterday’s top 8 race order, the Frenchman’s Lotus ART was hit by Giedo Van der Garde’s Barwa Addax Team car, ending up in the wall, which resulted in the Safety Car coming out. Fabio Leimer (Rapax) was the winner, ahead of Dani Clos (Racing Engineering) and Marcus Ericsson (Sport International.) Bianchi was taken to the circuit medical centre for a check up: the Ferrari Driver Academy student suffered slight bruising to the rib cage, but he will be fine to drive in next weekend’s round in Monaco, on the same card as the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
