GP2 – Bianchi third in qualifying but eighth on the grid
Monaco, 26 May – In his Lotus ART car, Jules Bianchi set the third best time in a hectic qualifying session this afternoon at the Monaco street circuit. The third round of the GP2 series saw the Ferrari Driver Academy youngster set a time of 1.21.991, behind pole man Giedo Van der Garde in his Barwa Addax Team car (1.21.781) and Sport International’s Sam Bird (1.21.876.) The Frenchman will actually start from eighth on the grid, as a result of the five place grid penalty imposed after last Sunday’s sprint race in Barcelona.
The first GP2 race of the weekend takes place tomorrow at 11.15, while the shorter race is on Saturday afternoon.
