Night racing for Ferrari Challenge in Portimão

Maranello, 17 May – The Portimao track first hosted a race for the Ferrari one-make championship back in 2009 and this coming weekend it will be home to the third round of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.

In total, there will be twenty seven cars taking to the track, starting on Friday 20 May, when free practice gets underway, prior to two qualifying sessions and a night race that starts at 20.00 on Saturday, with a second leg on Sunday at 11.45. As usual, competitors in the Trofeo Pirelli will race alongside the gentleman drivers in the Coppa Shell and those drivers competing in the F430s in two combined races with separate classifications.

Going into the Portuguese event, Max Blancardi (Motor/Malucelli) leads the standings in the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, while the Coppa Shell is headed by the duo of Jean Marc Bachelier and Yannick Mallegol (Motor/Piacenza.) Gerald Grohmann (Warm Up) is still solidly in the lead of the classification for the F430 drivers, having dominated both races at the previous round in Valencia.
