June 3- 5, 2011

At ShopVille-RailCity Zürich Hauptbahnhof/Zurich Main Station in Switzerland

Zürich Hauptbahnhof – Zurich Main Station, the largest railway station in Switzerland, becomes the stage for the Thai Grand Festival, a dazzling showcase of Thai culture featuring food, travel, art, culture and film, being staged June 3 – 5, 2011.

Situated at the confluence of the rivers Limmat and Sihl, Zurich is often described as the ‘lifestyle capital on the water’. The charming old town in central Zurich provides a scenic backdrop for the event.

Hauptbahnhof, Zurich’s Main Station, is a major hub for European rail travel offering services to and from across Switzerland and the neighbouring European countries such as Germany, Italy, Austria and France. Over 300,000 passengers pass through the station each day.

Residents of Zurich, as well as visitors, are being presented with a special opportunity to immerse themselves in Thai culture, igniting their senses of taste, touch, sight, sound, and smell through an engaging programme of cultural activities. The event highlights include:

- A spectacular presentation of the performing arts from the four regions of the Thai kingdom

- Live cooking shows and live demonstrations of Thai cuisine. Secret recipes and tips for famous Thai dishes that have made Thai food one of the world’s most popular international cuisines will be shared.

- Thai textile fashion show with Mr Switzerland 2011 and Miss Thailand 2010 joining Swiss models on the catwalk

- Muay Thai boxing demonstration match

- A special open-air screening of two popular Thai films

- Mr and Miss Thai-Europa Contest open to all individuals of Thai-Swiss heritage

- Stalls offering food, drinks, and a selection of products related to Thailand

Other activities will include musical performances by popular Swiss artists, stage activities and games with numerous prizes being given away.

Thai Grand Festival 2011 jointly organized by the Thai Grand Association and HBC Entertainment also presents an opportunity for Thai residents in Switzerland to come together to reminisce and celebrate Thai culture.
