Don't treat the BMW 328 Hommage _ a one-off concept car to celebrate the 75th birthday of the original 328 used in Mille Miglia _ as a riposte to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.
However, the 328 Hommage has interesting ideas like lightweight body made from carbonfibre-reinforced plastic to help yield a dry weight of just 780kg. Some European sources are predicting that the concept car could provide a new design language for BMW's future roadsters.
A plan to provide BMW with a new-age supercar has now long been dismissed. Instead, the Munich boys have already announced plans to build a new hybrid-powered sports car in the mould of i8.
The last BMW concept car to pay homage to a legend was the M1 Hommage. The 328 Hommage was shown at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Italy last month.
