European GP - A very closely fought qualifying

Valencia, 25 June – Fourth for Fernando, fifth for Felipe: that was the outcome of the European Grand Prix qualifying session for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. It was a very tight session, with the first six all within seven tenths. Third place was probably within Fernando’s grasp, but putting together the perfect lap on a track like this is never easy. Felipe did very well, closing up to his team-mate on his final run, finishing up less than a tenth of a second slower. Predictably, the front row features the two Red Bulls: this track has a sector, the third one, where greater aerodynamic efficiency makes the difference and that could be seen.

Tomorrow will be another tough race, with one more unknown factor than usual, namely how long the Medium tyres will last, as this new Pirelli compound will be making its race debut.
