European Grand Prix Build Up

The circuit in Valencia hasn't drawn much praise over the three years it has been on the calendar. A high speed blast around a port etc. The date of the race has always seemed to collide with other sporting events, 2008 Olympics, 2009 Final Ashes Test Match, 2010 England vs Germany World Cup game.

So to this year then what can we expect? The new regulations made the Spanish Grand Prix a thriller so there is much promise ahead of Spain's second race. The double DRS zone is kept from Montreal and with dry weather likely we should get a real idea of if it works. In fact it was the Webber/Kovalainen crash last year that got people going about KERS+DRS and the closing speeds of that. Also on DRS, I am a cricket fan and in cricket the referrral system is known as DRS. Surely calling it Moveable Rear Wing would be simpler and fans of all interest could refer to it.

Its too early to preview the race, I'll do that Friday. There are however some things that will happen.

1. Eddie Jordan will wear a terrible shirt;

2. Ferrari and/or Alonso will either moan about a rule that has hindered them in the race or talk up their chances and end up 4th and 5th;

3. David Coulthard will say Nick Heidfield at some point;

4. Kobayashi will overtake/hit a wall/another car;

5. For sure at least 5 drivers will say "For sure";

See you on Friday for a race preview.
