Geneva 2012: Ford B-Max
The series version of Ford B-Max, intended to be produced at the factory in Romania (Craiova), will not be displayed until 2012 spring at the Geneva Motor Show 2012.
While the public eagerly expected Frankfurt Motor Show to meet the future model that Ford will produce in Romania, the new B-Max seems to be elusive. According to Auto Press from France, MPV is expected no earlier than March next year, when the it will be exposed at the Geneva Motor Show.
Although B-Max won’t be present at the German Motor Show, Ford promises a “surprise” appearance. The information has given rise once again to a long series of speculations, that exclude next-generation versions of Mondeo and Kuga crossover. Specialists say that it could be a descendant of Capri, a sporty coupe that could be thrown directly into battle with Volkswagen Scirocco and Opel Astra GTC.
The new Ford B-Max will be 11 cm taller than Fiesta and will be one of the promoters of three-cylinder gasoline engine, 1.0-liter EcoBoost (that will be produced also in Romania). With both doors open, B-Max will have an opening over 1,5 meters wide, double than what rivals offer for opening doors (those at Ford are talking here of Opel Meriva). By folding rear seats, the model gives a flat floor with a maximum length of 2,35 meters.
Production of C Ford C-Max and Ford Grand C-Max will be increased by 18% at the factory in Valencia for the European market after a demand above expectations for these models. Since its launch, Ford has sold over 100,000 C-Max units, in less than a year after its market debut, and the C-Max sales have doubled in that period over the same last year period.
Ford C-Max and Ford Grand C-Max are leaders on the Italian market segment with a share of 27% and in Ireland with an rate of 23%. Compared with 2010, Ford doubled sales in the segment of C-Max on all 19 “traditional” markets from Europe. According to Ford, 65% of the C-Max customers choose higher versions of equipment, such as Titanium. In 2010, only 32% of C-Max customers (previous generation) chose superior equipment versions.
