The engines fire up at Le Mans

Le Mans, 8 June – The countdown to the Le Mans 24 Hours has begun, leading up to the 79th edition of the race this weekend. This year the task of curtain raising for the most famous endurance race in motor sport falls to the competitors in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, who will compete in one race with separate classifications for the Italian and European series. The racing promises to be tough and action packed. The spotlight once again falls on the 458 Challenge, the new sports car that, as from this year will compete alongside the F430 Challenge car. So far, in the early rounds of the season, it has proved capable of delivering great performance, making it an exhilarating drive for those at the wheel.

This festival of racing gets underway this evening at 20.30 with a sixty minute free practice session for the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli competitors, before the first qualifying session for the Le Mans 24 Hours itself takes place at 22.00.
