Pirelli confirm tyre allocations for Silverstone and beyond
Official tyre suppliers Pirelli have revealed which of their PZero tyre compounds will be taken to the forthcoming British, German and Hungarian rounds of the 2011 FIA Formula One World Championship.
At next weekend’s Silverstone race the hard and soft tyres will be used as prime and option choice respectively. Silverstone is one of the quickest tracks of the year, requiring the use of the hard tyre to cope with the sustained high speeds that are a characteristic of the British circuit. The soft tyres as an option will give the teams plenty of opportunity to make use of race strategy.
For the German event, to be held at the Nurburgring, the medium tyre will be the prime choice and the soft tyre the option, whilst for Hungary’s tight and twisty Hungaroring circuit the soft and super-softs will have an outing as the prime and option compounds respectively.

Tyre compounds for the 2011 season:
Australia (Melbourne) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Malaysia (Sepang) - hard (prime), soft (option)
China (Shanghai) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Spain (Barcelona) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Monaco (Monte Carlo) - soft (prime), super-soft (option)
Canada (Montreal) - soft (prime), super-soft (option)
Europe (Valencia) - medium (prime), super-soft (option)
Great Britain (Silverstone) - hard (prime), soft (option)
Germany (Nurburgring) - medium (prime), soft (option)
Hungary (Hungaroring) - soft (prime), super-soft (option)
