Range Rover Evoque in production
Land Rover started production of the smallest SUV in its range. The first built Evoque was delivered to Heritage Museum in Gaydon and it is white.
Jaguar Land Rover plant in Merseyside started production on the new Range Rover Evoque. The first copy is painted white and has a five-door body. The first Evoque will be donated to the Heritage Motor Centre Museum in Gaydon, like every other Jaguar Land Rover product. Range Rover Evoque will be built alongside Freelander as shares some components with it.
For the production of Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar Land Rover plant has hired another 1,500 workers to cope with the production rate required for this model. The UK economy will benefit from two billion pounds due to the fact that 40 local suppliers have signed contracts with Land Rover to build this model. The first 15,000 units will be built in the levels of equipment previously specified, to achieve stability for suppliers.
In Europe, Range Rover Evoque price starts at ~€37,000 Euros including VAT for the three-door version. Customers interested in the five-door version of Evoque pay less, its price starting from ~€35,000 Euros with VAT included. Land Rover officials said that a typical Evoque customer has between 30 and 40 years old and that 50% of the customers are female.
For the UK market, Land Rover sales are estimated to equal between the three and the five door versions, both following to be as popular in the first year of production, if not even further. Range Rover Evoque will cost from £27,955 for the two-wheel-drive diesel manual version when it reaches UK showrooms in September and will be available in three trim levels: Pure, Prestige and Dynamic, marking a break with the company’s traditional names.
Three engine options are available: a 2.2-litre turbodiesel in 148bhp or 187bhp states of tune, and a 236bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The five-door Range Rover Evoque is roomier than the coupe, with a 30mm higher roofline, but as an illustration of Land Rover’s strategy for the car the range-topping model will still be the coupe, at £44,320 for the Si4 Dynamic with six-speed auto and LUX pack.
