ALMS – Risi Ferrari at a standstill in Lime Rock qualifying

Maranello, 9 July – Three months after the previous round at California’s Long Beach circuit in mid-April, the American Le Mans Series is back in action at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut for round three. Over thirty cars are entered, including Ferrari no. 62 entered by the Risi Competizione team. Unfortunately, it took no part in the afternoon free practice or qualifying, having been involved in an accident in the first session. It will therefore start from the back of the grid for the 2 hour 45 minute race, which starts today at 14.05 local time.

With ten minutes to go in the session, the 458 Italia crewed by the regular pairing of Toni Vilander and Jaime Melo had to spend a long time in the garage after colliding with Bill Auberlen’s BMW at turn 4. It badly damaged the front right and left rear corners thus preventing it from taking part in qualifying. The 458 Italia GT2 entered by Extreme Speed Motorsports, driven by Ed Brown-Guy Cosmo starts eighth (52.350) with its sister car driven by Scott Sharp and Johannes van Overbeek (59.956) in tenth place.
