FDA makes it to podium in Imola thanks to Maisano
Maranello, 17 July –Two FDA students, Brandon Maisano and Raffaele Marciello were taking part in the third round of the Italian Formula 3 championship this weekend in Imola. Maisano and Marciello qualified sixth and seventh respectively, both men getting under the 1m 42s mark. In Race 1, Maisano finished fourth after making a great start which saw him get the better of BMV Target team-mate, Maxime Jousse. In his Prema Powerteam car, Marciello unfortunately had to retire, after a spectacular collision in the early stages with the same team’s Michael Lewis badly damaged his car, forcing him to pit.
Race 2 delivered the podium, when Ferrari Driver Academy student Maisano took an excellent second place, moving to that position early on in the race. The Frenchman drove an attacking race throughout and right to the final corner he tried to pass eventual winner, Lucidi Motors’ Kevin Giovesi, showing great maturity and technical ability. Marciello’s luck did not improve, as he dropped to the back after a slow start and eventually crossed the line sixth.
The next round of the Italian Formula 3 series takes place over the weekend of 7 August at Spa, but before then, the two FDA students will be back on track at Fiorano next week, for an intensive training session, under the watchful eye of programme leader, Luca Baldisserri.
