GP2 - Pole in the wet for Jules Bianchi at Silverstone

An impeccable lap in very difficult track conditions ended with Jules Bianchi taking pole position in today’s qualifying at Silverstone in GP2. The Frenchman made the most of the opening laps of the session, exploiting the difficult conditions and dealing with traffic without losing his rhythm.

After the first ten minutes, the rain intensified and none of the twenty six drivers were able to improve their times before the chequered flag. “The decision to go out on track immediately was perfect,” said Bianchi. “After the first run, without taking any excessive risks I pushed as hard as I could. The time was great given that my nearest rival is over four tenths of a second off my time and honestly, I did not expect such a big gap. I am happy for this good start to the weekend, also because pole has added value on a track where overtaking is never easy. There is still a long way to go this weekend and we must be ready to deal with whatever the weather has in store.”
