Ferrari also wins at Misano in GT Sprint
Misano Adriatico (Rimini,) 10 July – Along with the Italian series of the Ferrari Challenge, this weekend Misano also played host to the fourth round of the International GT Sprint Series, in which Ferraris were front runners.
In Race 1, Matteo Cressoni took the win, his first of the season, having qualified second in the Racing Team Edil Cris Ferrari 430 GTC, by putting the definitive passing move on the Ferrari of pole man Gaetano Ardagna Perez (AF Corse) on lap 7. After that, he led all the way to the flag, while behind him the battle raged. Two separate collisions worked against Niki Cadei in his AF Corse 458 Italia GT3. He finished sixth overall, which was still good enough to take the GTS3 class win.Ardagna Perez spun out during a hard fought duel with Giacomo Barri (Vittoria Competizioni-F430 GTC.) Profiting from that was Michael Dalle Stelle (F430 GTC, Racing Team Edil Cris) who finished second ahead of Max Mugelli (Vittoria Competizioni – F430 GTC.)
In Race 2, the win went to Giuseppe Ciro who thus matches is great performance at the Portiamo track. The AF Corse driver, at the wheel of the F430 GTC, started from pole, comfortably maintaining the lead for all 17 laps, fighting off various attacks from Cressoni, the winner of the first race. Further back at the chequered flag came his team-mate Michael Dalle Stelle in third place. Again in the points were Giacomo Barri and Andrea Palma of the Vittoria Competizione team in the F430 GTC, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Right behind them was the Robert Del Castello Corvette, first in class GTS 3 ahead of the 458 Italia GT3 of Massimo Mantovani (Kessel.)
The next round of the GT Sprint series takes place at Spa over the weekend of 7 August along with the fifth round of the European Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.
