Mercedes duo hopeful over updates

2 July 2011

Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher are optimistic that a selection of car upgrades will move Mercedes GP further up the grid at Silverstone, with the German duo yet to register a podium finish in 2011. Ex-Williams man Rosberg is currently seventh in the drivers' standings with a total of 32 points, three places ahead of Schumacher.

"Silverstone is a very cool track," Rosberg commented. "I'm really looking forward to all the fast corners, especially from Copse through Becketts to Stowe. I finished third last year and I hope to have another good result, especially because so many of the people working at Brackley and Brixworth will be there with their families.

"This is the first of our two home Grands Prix in July, so I want to give a good performance in front of our people. We will have a few new updates, and I'm curious to see how this will affect my car. Hopefully we can close the gap to the top a little bit."

"We are in the process of developing further upgrades and new solutions which I am confident will help us to make a step forward again," Schumacher added. "The message for all of us is to put our heads down and work our way through, and as we are all sharing this attitude, I am sure we will get there."
