Whatever you do, don’t try and shake our chef Jon Smee by the hand this weekend. His right hand (check) was crushed on Tuesday when a hydraulic arm lowered the entire motorhome on top of it. Two fingers were completely crushed, yet Jon isn’t even wearing a bandage. “I’ve got to be able to wash my hands in order to cook,” he says. What a trooper. Jon, we love you!

Phil “The Power” Barrett from Cosworth was nursing a sore head this morning after the AT&T Williams engineering and marketing departments showed him a good time last night. This is Phil’s last race as engine calibration engineer for Pastor Maldonado, before he starts a new job with Jaguar. What chance our paths cross again, when we begin production of Jaguar’s C-X75 Supercar?

Terrible oversight from iWitness over the German Grand Prix weekend. Our comms boss Claire Williams wasn’t at the race and, um, we forgot to mention her birthday on Thursday 21 July. You’d be correct in your assumption that iWitness wasn’t invited to join the marketing department out on the town last night.

Felipe Massa arrived in Budapest yesterday, a day earlier than normal, in order to visit the doctors and nurses that cared for him after his death-defying accident at the Hungaroring in 2009. “It was great to see them,” he says. “I owe them a lot.”
