Mark Foster carded a third straight 68 to claim the joint lead with James Morrison.
(CNN) -- English pair Mark Foster and James Morrison share the lead going into the final round of the French Open but world number four Martin Kaymer is well-placed to mount a challenge at Le Golf National.
Foster carded a three-under 68 to join overnight leader Morrison, who carded a one-over 72, at the top of the leaderboard on nine-under.
Scotland's Richie Ramsay was a shot further back in third, having dropped shots in the last two holes in a 68.
2010 U.S. PGA champion Kaymer of Germany carded a 67 to share fourth with French hope Thomas Levet on six under.
Levet also returned a four-under 67 on the tricky course near Paris which will host the 2018 Ryder Cup.
Foster, who led going into day four of last week's BMW International Open in Munich, was shooting a 68 for a third consecutive day.
"(That was) probably the best one of the three. A great round," he told the European Tour website.
"It was really blowing out there, a lot of crosswinds which seemed to be either into or down, and the course has firmed out a lot so it's tough to get the ball close."
Kaymer, who started the day eight shots adrift of the lead on two under, picked up three birdies before a stunning eagle at the 14th to move firmly into contention.
"If I keep playing the way I did today and I put some pressure on the guys early in my round, anything can happen, but I think it will definitely be a very exciting afternoon," he said.
Australian Richard Green, second overnight on nine under, carded a sorry eight on the par four seventh on his way to a 76.
Colin Montgomerie, who needs a top-five finish to qualify for the British Open, is tied 36th after a disappointing three-over 74.
