New majority shareholder for HRT team
Spanish investment group Thesan Capital has become the controlling shareholder in the HRT team after reaching an agreement with previous owner Jose Ramon Carabante.
Thesan say they will be looking at ways to improve the team’s performance in coming seasons, as well boosting its Spanish identity. HRT’s current team and director line-up will be maintained.
HRT, originally founded by former F1 driver Adrian Campos before being taken over by Carabante, made their Formula One debut last season. After a difficult 2010, they have taken a step forward in performance this year, and are currently ahead of rivals Virgin in the constructors’ table.
The team have a new driver for this weekend’s 2011 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix, with the Red Bull-backed Australian Daniel Ricciardo set to make his F1 race debut alongside Vitantonio Liuzzi.
