Mercedes: still searching for success since takeover of Brawn GP
Mercedes have strengthened their technical team after two disappointing seasons in Formula One.
The German manufacturing giant took over 2009 champions Brawn GP at the end of that year as they made a long-awaited return to the sport, but there has been no sign of a repeat of such success since.
Geoff Willis, who previously worked at the team's Brackley base from 2001 to 2006 when they were formerly BAR and Honda, returns as technical director, taking up the role from October 17.
Willis, who was also TD with Red Bull from 2007 to 2009 and most recently has been working as a consultant for Hispania Racing, will be responsible for aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, control systems and simulation functions.
Mercedes have also taken on Aldo Costa as engineering director, the Italian starting his new post on December 1 after 15 years with Ferrari prior to leaving in May this year.
Costa, who will take care of design and development, worked under Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn at Ferrari when the latter was technical director and the mastermind of eight world titles.

Brawn said: "Geoff is a highly respected engineer with over 20 years of Formula One experience.
"Having worked closely with Aldo for many years, I know he will bring dedication and championship-winning expertise to the team when he joins in December.
