There were long faces among the British press corps this morning, for it was AT&T Williams’ last British media breakfast of the year! A Europe-only affair, these breakfasts have been a staple of the Fourth Estate since the Turkish Grand Prix at the beginning of May. Now, just because we can’t offer you lot sausage, beans and eggs at the final fly-away races of the year, please be reminded that we’d still like you to visit us lots over the race weekends!
Pastor Maldonado’s grandmother is attending her first grand prix this weekend. The 73-year-old flew from Venezuela with Pastor’s sister, Moira (who only attended her first race at Spa!), and the two can usually be found entertaining AT&T Williams’ guests at the back of the motorhome.It’s lovely to have them with us!

It was time to say farewell to FOTA’s Secretary General, Simone Perillo, today. After three years in the job, he’s moving into Italian politics (out of the frying pan, into the fire! – Ed) and as a ‘thank you’ for his hard work, McLaren threw a party for him this evening. Lots of F1 celebrities turned up to wish him well, including AT&T Williams Director of Engineering Patrick Head, and when FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh said a few nice words, Simone cried!
