Gene to star for Ferrari at Spielberg weekend

Ferrari test driver Marc Gene will be one of the star attractions at this weekend’s Ferrari Racing Days event in Spielberg, Austria. Gene will demonstrate an F60, the car used by the Italian team in the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship, around the recently re-opened Red Bull Ring.

The Spaniard will also be acting as coach to drivers in Ferrari’s Formula One customer, or F1 Clienti, department, who will be bringing along 11 historic Formula One cars to join Gene’s more contemporary machine.

There will also be plenty of competitive track activity over the three-day weekend, which gets underway on Friday, with rounds of Ferrari’s various one-make sportscars championships, including the Italian and European series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli.

Gene, 37, is a veteran of 36 Grands Prix with the Minardi and Williams teams and won the 2009 Le Mans 24-hour race with Peugeot. He joined Ferrari in late 2004 and works on development of their Formula One cars as well as carrying out promotional duties.
