India goes Gaga; McCartney & Spears Abu Dhabi bound
Organisers of next month's 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India have announced that American pop icon Lady Gaga will be the star attraction at the post-race party that will follow Formula One racing's inaugural outing in the country at the all-new Buddh International Circuit.
The five-time Grammy Award winner, who has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, will also be making her first Indian appearance when she performs on October 30. Other acts confirmed for concerts on the Friday and Saturday of the race weekend include celebrated DJ Roger Sanchez, German DJ-producer Tom Navy and top producer and musician Edward Maya.
That is all in addition to the recently-announced F1 Rocks™ in India concert, which will see US rock gods Metallica play their first show in the country at Leisure Valley, Sector 29, Gurgaon on the Friday (see www.f1rocks.com for more information).
Meanwhile, race goers at November's 2011 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will also be treated to world-class musical entertainment on all three evenings of the event, thanks to a concert line-up including Britney Spears and Sir Paul McCartney.
Pop princess Britney Spears will bring her Femme Fatale tour to the Yas Arena on the evening of Friday November 11. Spears has sold close to 100 million records worldwide, and was recently honoured at the MTV Video Music Awards with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Saturday November 12 will see American rock band Incubus and British hard rockers The Cult take to the stage, while after the race on Sunday November 13, Abu Dhabi will host music royalty as former Beatle McCartney performs his first-ever show in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). All the Abu Dhabi concerts are free for race-day ticket holders.
In addition to the headline shows on Yas Island, a city-wide entertainment programme - Yasalam 2011 - during the build-up to Abu Dhabi's Grand Prix features highlights including beach concerts from the likes of Lebanese icon Najwa Karam, Saber Al Robai, British R'n'B sensation Jay Sean, Wyclef Jean, K-Pop artists Seo in Young and Nine Muses, as well as the first public screening in the UAE of the acclaimed 'Senna' documentary film as part of the 'Cinema by the Sea' festival.
