Vettel and Alonso: Tipped to be able to work together at Ferrari
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali says Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel could work together within the team.
Vettel recently secured his second consecutive Formula One drivers' crown by taking third place behind Alonso at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The German, whose contract with current team Red Bull expires in 2014, has hinted at a desire to drive for Ferrari one day, saying his win at Monza this year would only be better if he "would be wearing a red suit".
Alonso has a contract that will keep him at Ferrari through the 2016 season and Domenicali believes that the Spaniard would be open to a potential partnership with Vettel in the future.
"I think so," he told Gazzetta dello Sport when asked if Alonso would accept Vettel at Ferrari.
Coexist
"I think they could coexist. Fernando's strength is not being afraid of anyone."
Alonso's current team-mate Felipe Massa has a contract at Ferrari until the end of next season and Domenicali would not be drawn on whether the Brazilian will be offered a new deal.
Massa has struggled to match the pace of Alonso throughout the two years they have been together and has recently been involved in a string of incidents with Lewis Hamilton, another driver whose contract ends in 2012.
"Massa will do everything he can to show that he's worthy of Ferrari and other drivers with contracts expiring will want to show that they're ready to come to Ferrari," Domenicali added.
"Hamilton is also probably among those (drivers), but it's early yet."
