Korean GP - A wet start at Yeongam
Yeongam, 14 October – Incessant rain was the main feature of the opening free practice session for the Korean Grand Prix, which takes place at this track on Sunday. After doing installation laps, the wait for conditions to improve lasted almost an hour. After that, Fernando Alonso took to the track to try some practice starts, but both he and team-mate Felipe Massa in the other 150º Italia did not do a single timed lap, preferring to not adventure out on a track that offered little to learn given how much standing water there was. 18 of the 24 drivers did set a time, headed by Michael Schumacher who did a 2.02.784 in the Mercedes, followed by Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull (2.02.840) and the Force India of Paul Di Resta (2.02.912.)
The action resumes with the second freee practice session at 14h00.
