FDA - Young karters at Ferrari
Maranello, 11 October - Yesterday, six young kart drivers crossed the threshold of the Gestione Sportiva Ferrari for the first time, for an introductory meeting with Luca Baldisserri, the head of the Ferrari Driver Academy programme. The drivers, who range in age from 13 to 16, were chosen for having distinguished themselves in their respective championships and they followed on from the previous group of six who went through the same process at the beginning of September. the initiative, in conjunction with the ACI-CSAi involves taking part in a two day course at Maranello, when the youngsters will undergo physical and psycho-attitudinal tests, along with sessions in the gym and those looking at mental training. The three best candidates will take part in a course organised by the CSAI in early November at Vallelunga, with a track test at the wheel of a Formula Abarth.
“The initiative is of great value to us,” explained Baldisserri after the one on one meetings that rounded off the day. “The collaboration with the ACI-CSAI and the Federation school at Vallelunga has been a key part of the FDA programme since it began. This meeting with talented young kart racers is an opportunity for us to contribute to their development, especially at national level and shows how much importance Ferrari places in the junior formulae. Those who are too young to be selected for a a run in the Formula Abarth in November, will continue to be watched for a chance ot taking part in the future.”
