The first free practice session for the second ever Korean Grand Prix got underway in conditions pretty similar to those that brought the curtain down on last year’s inaugural race at the Yeongam track.

In short and as forecast, it’s been raining all morning, so the few fans who made the effort to turn up, sadly did not see much track action so far. As for the Scuderia Toro Rosso crew, Sébastien Buemi did nine laps on his way to setting the fifth fastest time and Jaime Alguersuari looked relaxed and more importantly, dry, as he watched Jean-Eric Vergne also do nine laps on his way to the thirteenth time in the 90 minute session. Both our drivers stuck to extreme rain tyres throughout. Conditions were far from ideal for a debut on the Formula 1 world stage, but at least the Frenchman brought the car home in one piece, in a session where several cars visited the scenery. Quickest time to the oldest man, as Michael Schumacher topped the classification for Mercedes. He was followed by newly crowned World Champion, Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull, with Paul Di Resta posting the third best time in the Force India.
