2011 PHIMAI FESTIVAL

At Bhrommathat Ground of Phimai Historical Park and banks of the
Chakkarat River, Phimai district, Nakhon Ratchasima province
Nakhon Ratchasima province, in collaboration with the TAT Nakhon Ratchasima Office, the Fine Arts Department, as well as, other related agencies, is organising the annual 2011 Phimai Festival, scheduled to be held during November 9 – 13, 2011, at the Bhrommathat Ground of the Phimai Historical Park and banks of the Chakkarat River, Phimai district , Nakhon Ratchasima province.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- Highlights of the event will include:
Dances beyond the Mun River – a light and sound presentation that will tell the story of the glorious period of King Jayavarman VII (November 9-13, 2011).
- Traditional long-boat races along the banks of the Chakkarat River and Mun River during November 12 – 13
- Khorat cat competition
Khon or classical Thai mask dance from the Fine Arts Department
- Local art and cultural performances
- Food contest featuring competitions of renowned food of Phimai
Sales of local products and various fun-filled performances will also be available.
Mr Auttaphol Wannakij, Director of TAT Nakhon Ratchasima Office, also reassures tourists that they will enjoy the warm hospitality of the people of Phimai, as well as, hear the story of the grand Phimai Sanctuary from the students of Phimai Witthaya School.
