Indian's iWitness: Saturday

Our new Chief Operations Engineer Mark Gillan got stuck in our hotel lift this morning and when he tried calling for help, the intercom faded out! To make matters worse, the air con stopped working as well. He was rescued after not too long, but the delay caused a strategic re-think about AT&T Williams’ departure time for the circuit (very poor gag. – Ed).
As a result of Mark’s misfortune in the lift, our team chauffeur was forced to pull out his finger en route to the circuit. While driving flat-out and undercutting any road hogs, he had three tips. “To survive on these roads,” he said, “you need good luck, good brakes and a good horn.” Luckily, we had all three on this journey…
Arjun Maini. Remember the name because he’ll probably be one of the most famous sportsmen in the world in a few years. Arjun is the winner of Force India’s search for an Indian F1 driver, called “One in a billion”. Open to 14-17 year olds, the driver development programme will see Arjun receive a fully funded drive in Europe for the next three years. Congratulations to Arjun and Force India – and we’ll pass Arjun’s name to our HR department!
Classic comment from Felipe Massa today. When asked by some cricket-mad Indians to define the cricketing term ‘LBW’ (Leg Before Wicket), his reply was thus: “Is that the code for our next rear wing update?” Brazilians don’t play cricket.
