Mazda 3 2012 presents itself with a new face, slightly restyled, with a more elaborate interior and a range of more economical engines.


Launched in 2008, Mazda 3 already receives a facelift from Mazda, designed to increase public’s interest.

Mazda 3 2012 facelift receives a new sportier front spoiler, more aerodynamic, and a revised rear spoiler which received reflectors. The body can be painted in eight colors, of which the latest is called Autumn Bronze Mica.

The aesthetic package of the Mazda 3 2012 facelift is complemented by a set of 16 or 17 inch alloy wheels, which, according to Mazda officials, offers a better brake cooling and enhanced stability.

Inside Mazda 3 2012 facelift, the changes were shy. The center console has received a black plastic, the instruments are illuminated in white, the air intakes receive a chromed contour, and the onboard computer is a new generation (MID). The Tom-Tom navigation isn’t missing, with a 5.8 inch touchscreen, Bluetooth for phone, and gear change indicator.

In addition to the stiffened front structure and better soundproofed, Mazda 3 2012 facelift received certain changes to the drivetrain, the suspension – MacPhearson on front and Multilink to the rear, shock absorbers and brake pump.

The drag coefficient was reduced from 0.28 to 0.27 cx (for sedan) and from 0.30 to 0.29 (for hatchback).

Under the hood, Mazda 3 2012 facelift will get eight engines, assisted by a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission, named Activematic.

Those who prefer diesel engines will receive the MZ-CD 1.6 liter and MZR-CD 2.2 liter units, the last one offered in two power versions.

The first offers 150 hp at 3500 rpm and 360 Nm delivered between 1800 and 2600 rpm. The average fuel efficiency is only 5.2 litres/100 km and emissions of 139 g/km.

The more powerful alternative offers 185 horses and 400 Nm provided between 1800 and 3000 rpm, while promising an average fuel efficiency of 5.4 l/100 km and emissions of 144 g/km.

The entry level diesel engine, a 1.6 liter 115 horsepower and 270 Nm (between 1750 and 2500 rpm), offers an average fuel efficiency of just 4.3 litres/100 km and emissions 115 g/km.

Those who prefer petrol engines can choose as entry level the already known 1.6-liter engine, of 105 hp and 145 Nm, which consumes on average 6.4 liters of fuel and emits only 147 g/km. When assisted by the automatic four-speed Activematic transmission, consumption climbs to 7.4 liters and emissions to 171 g/km.

The range includes the MZR 2.0 DISI engine equipped with start-stop system, which offers 150 hp and 190 Nm, consumes 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers and emits 157 g/km.

The high-end version will not be missing, the MPS performance, delivering a total of 260 hp to the front axle, “squeezed” from the 2.3-liter DISI unit. Resources allow the Mazda 3 2012 facelift equipped with this engine to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 6.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h (156 mph).
